This release introduces a new File Association system that allows users to link uploaded files to multiple project objects, including Orders, Invoices, Specs, and Shipments. Previously, files had no contextual link to Specs, Orders, Shipments, or Invoices, making it difficult to determine which file belonged to which object. This release introduces a structured, visual way to manage those relationships.
Associations Column on the Files List Page
A new Associations column now appears on the Files List page. This column displays all objects a file is linked to, using four object types:
- Specs
- Orders
- Shipments
- Invoices
Each object type has a unique background color to make it easy to distinguish at a glance. If a file is associated with multiple objects, you will see a “+ (number)” indicator. Hover over it to expand and view the full list.
Flexible Association Rules
- A single file can be associated with multiple objects.
- A single object can have multiple files associated with it.
- All associations appear immediately in the Associations column after saving.
How to Associate Files
1. From the Associations Column
- On the Files List page, locate the Associations column.
- Click the +Link option.
- A popup will appear showing all available objects in the project, organized into tabs.
- Select one or more objects and click Save.
The popup includes:
- Tabs for each object type
- Checkboxes to select/deselect objects
- Pre‑checked items for existing associations
- Multi‑select across tabs
- Save action updates associations immediately
2. From the Action Menu
- Hover over the file’s three dots.
- Select Link Objects.
- Use the popup to choose objects and save.
Note: At this time, files can only be associated one at a time, not in bulk.
Viewing Associations on Object Pages
Once a file is associated with a Spec, Order, Shipment, or Invoice, the corresponding object page will display a Files Associated section at the bottom.
- If you have permission to view the file → the filename appears as a clickable link that takes you to the Files List page for download.
- If you do not have permission → the filename appears as plain text, with no link.
This ensures visibility without exposing restricted files.
